Pence Speaks To North Korea
“We will defeat any attack and we will meet any use of conventional or nuclear weapons with an overwhelming and effective response,” said Vice President Mike Pence in a Korean demilitarized zone.
Pence also called on the international community, specifically China, to join the U.S in an effort to confront North Korea. Whether or not China acts on this, Pence wanted to make it clear that the U.S. will act if North Korea continues.
President Trump and Vice President Pence want the Chinese President to understand that North Korea is no longer an asset.
Vice President Draws Hardline Against Aggression
Fox News reports:
“Patience is over. Vice President Mike Pence drawing a hard line against North Korea overnight, after visiting a deeply militarized zone, just miles from North Korea’s enemy line.”
Commentator Griff Jenkins adds:
“What a difference a change in administration makes. Vice President Pence dawned a bomber jacket and made a surprise visit to the DMZ where he drew a hard line against North Korea’s aggression and declared that we’re heading into a new era.”
Warning comes after…
Korean Parade And Failed Missile Test
The Washington Post reports:
“The stark warning, delivered in Seoul after the vice president went to the military demarcation line that separates the two Koreas, could revive speculation that the White House is considering military action against the regime in Pyongyang. Pence said the Trump administration wants to persuade North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons “through peaceful means,” but he repeated the administration’s warning that “all options are on the table.”
“Pence arrived in South Korea just hours after North Korea launched its latest ballistic missile — which exploded within a few seconds — and amid a weekend of fanfare in North Korea, during which the regime showed off what appeared to be new missiles designed to reach the United States.”
