Nearly 150 illegal immigrants from the Central American caravan have arrived at the U.S. border to seek asylum. However, President Trump is not backing down and the Department of Homeland Security issued a warning to those trying to sneak across the border.
Earlier this month, news hit the wire that a 1500-member caravan was making its way towards the U.S. Interestingly, most of the immigrants come from war-ravaged Central American countries like Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. That triangle is also a second home to the violent gang Mara Salvatrucha or MS-13.
Responding to the impending invasion, President Trump asked border states to send National Guard troops to aid U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents. Additionally, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, one of the first to comply with the president’s request, sent 400 troops.
Not surprisingly, California Governor Jerry Brown and Oregon Governor Kate Brown, both refused.
Despite numerous claims from left-wing media that the caravan disbanded, 120 illegals arrived at the California-Mexico Border this week. Then, the two busloads of migrants, including some 50 minors, stopped on Tuesday in the border city of Mexicali which sits opposite Calexico, California.
