According to The Hill, over 200 people were arrested during the protests on Donald Trump’s inauguration day in Washington, D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham confirmed at least 217 arrests as peaceful protests started to turn into chaos.
This included setting fire to trash cans and newspaper boxes, but also led to busted windows in several downtown businesses. “My sense is that these are not people that are from Washington, D.C.” said the Chief.
This often implies opportunists who are simply protesting to protest, especially on Donald Trump’s inauguration day.
