Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton threw SNL a bone. They’ve been having low numbers of views until they did their skit making fun of the two presidential candidates. The Hollywood Reporter says that SNL’s ratings are up by 20 percent!
The skit featured Alec Baldwin playing Donald Trump and Kate McKinnon playing Hillary Clinton. Peter Davis said that Trump gave the show even more laughs. Davis explained, “The wacko presidential race and Trump’s easy to lampoon antics and rants are ‘SNL’s’ comedic bread and butter. The election is often even described as like an ‘SNL’ skit. It’s like the writers are being handed free material. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have inadvertently made ‘SNL’ hilarious…Trump and his ‘grab them by the p—y’ comment could not be easier to make a zillion jokes from. Trump is the punch line that just keeps giving.”
Thanks For the Ratings Boost
Davis thanked Trump and Clinton for the boost in the ratings. He said, “These two candidates have low approval ratings and are constantly saying and doing things worthy of parody. This election is practically writing ‘SNL.’ Donald saying things on a hot mic or Hilary having a coughing fit and doing a shoulder shimmy. ‘SNL’ is reaping all the benefits.”
The election cycle usually results in a boost in SNL viewings. Cristina Palumbo, a radio host, explained, “It’s an American institution with highs and lows like anything else. I look forward to it during an election year because it keeps me engaged in politics, shines a spotlight on real issues and takes the dullness out of the electoral process.”
Hating on SNL
Well, Trump isn’t loving it. He tweeted, “Watched Saturday Night Live hit job on me.Time to retire the boring and unfunny show. Alec Baldwin portrayal stinks. Media rigging election!” At this rate, SNL could care less. They will keep doing it if it will keep boosting their ratings.
A Baldwin Betrayed

Stephen Baldwin, Alec Baldwin’s brother, isn’t laughing either. The younger brother supports Donald Trump and thinks his brother has a lackluster impersonation of Trump even though it’s gone viral. He told CBS News, “Well he’s got the voice down very well. I think it’s getting a little too nasty right now. What do I think about Alec Baldwin’s impersonation of Donald Trump and ‘SNL’ and everything they’re doing? I don’t want to be a party pooper here, but I don’t think it’s very funny. I don’t think there’s anything funny about this election.”
Donald Trump has been very controversial in this election cycle. He’s even breaking a family apart! At the last debate, Trump invited Malik Obama, President Obama’s brother. Now, he’s got Alec Baldwin’s brother on his side! As for SNL, Trump is doing them a great service. Well, both candidates are. They make an interesting couple of candidates with radical ideas in opposite directions and strong, Type A personalities. With a pinch of hatred for one another, it makes plenty of good content to make some funny skits.
