Bright Future Ahead?
After what has decidedly been the most explosive election season of modern times, the American people have spoken and the future of the United States is looking bright. At just after 3 a.m. EDT the final votes were tallied and it was announced that businessman Donald J. Trump will become our 45th president. President Trump will go to Washington.
For the Democrats this was a stunning upset, for America it was a historic victory. As President-elect Trump took the stage with his wife and soon-to-be First Lady Melania, along with Vice President-elect Mike Pence, the crowd was enthusiastic after spending hours eagerly awaiting to see if their candidate would win or lose.
President Trump Takes the Stage
His victory speech was gracious and the message was one of hope and unity. President-elect Trump thanked Secretary Clinton for her many years of service to the country and congratulated her on a hard-fought campaign. Trump went on to say his was not a campaign but rather, it was “an incredible and great movement made up of millions of hard-working men and women who love their country and want a better, brighter future for themselves and for their families.”
Indeed, it was.
Perhaps more important were the President-elect’s remarks about working together as a nation to heal the wounds that have divided us and his promises to be a president for all people, and to restore a government that serves all people which, breathed life back into a nation that has been existing on life-support for the last eight years. He noted that “no dream is too big; no challenge is too great”. Hope is a powerful thing.
While there were many obstacles to overcome in order to close out the 2016 election season with this monumental victory, the job of restoring America to her former glory is just beginning. The problems this country is facing are numerous. The people are hurting, the country is deeply wounded. But, in true American fashion, we will rise to the occasion. Armed with renewed spirits and the promise of a safer, more prosperous future we will begin the work of “Making America Great Again” Congratulations Mr. President.
