Ohio Parents Lose Custody Of Teen For Refusing Transgender Surgery
It is a difficult time to be a conservative parent in America. Every day, more parents are losing control of their children to the evils of the world. Some of those evils are progressive Ohio court systems who think gender transition is what’s best for mentally ill children.
A 17-year old Ohio girl is suffering from anxiety, depression, and gender dysphoria. The child, unnamed in the court records, was hospitalized in 2016 for suicidal ideations. She wants to make the gender transition from female to male and her parents are refusing.
Now, she is in the custody of Hamilton Job and Family Services. The girl’s parents have asked the Hamilton County court to bar their daughter from receiving the treatment and therapy recommended by doctors to complete gender reassignment.
While that is their right as her parents, it cost them their daughter. Frankly, that should scare every parent in America. These parents are not starving or beating their child. They understand that she is suffering from a mental illness and they want to protect her.
According to reports, the child’s grandparents are “supportive” of her chosen identity and they want permanent custody. “We think the grandparents are the ones who have an open mind and will … make this sort of decision best for the child,” said Attorney Paul Hunt.
Kids Will Be Kids
However, the parents see the situation a bit differently. Per their attorney Karen Brinkman, they’re convinced that giving the grandparents custody “would simply be a way for the child to circumvent the necessity of parents’ consent.”
Now, if you’re a parent, then you know they’re right. After all, what child doesn’t try this? But this isn’t a cookie before dinner or a curfew extension. We’re talking about this child’s physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
Decisions about her life, any child’s life, belong to the parents until they become adults or unless parents are unfit. Giving into a child’s every desire, which is neither loving or kind, is exactly what good parents don’t do.
It’s high-time everyone else stops doing it too.
