Trump Likely Correct About Wiretapping
Besides evidence from other Obama wiretappings, former Attorney General Michael Mukasey also said that it’s likely Obama wiretapped Trump Towers. Mukasey said that it’s likely that there was surveillance on Trump Tower in the past.
“I think he’s right in that there was surveillance and that it was conducted at the behest of the attorney general — at the Justice Department,” confirmed Mukasey on ABC’s This Week.
This was after President Trump accused Obama of wiretapping before the election.
Obama Spokesman Denied Accusation
One spokesman for Obama denied these accusations about surveillance on the towers. “A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,” said Kevin Lewis.
Lewis’ response is trying to imply that it was going on under the President’s nose, but somehow the Commander in Chief was unaware of the happenings within the White House. “As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen.”
This is, of course, complete nonsense…
Muskasey Said Wiretapping Due To Russian Agents
Mukasey read a few reports and said it was likely that the White House had done surveillance on Trump Towers. In addition, if someone had been wiretapping Trump Towers, he said this happened because “there was suspicion someone had been acting as a Russian agent,” according to The Hill.
The former George W. Bush Attorney General said, “It means there was some basis to believe that somebody in Trump Tower may have been acting as an agent of the Russians for whatever purpose.”
Mukasey also said that this may not have anything to do with the election, but it’s likely that it happened. It’s unclear how Donald Trump found out about the wiretapping, but it’s likely someone on his new staff made the discovery.
Do you think Mukasey’s correct about these wiretappings?
