Classified Intel to Russia
Just about every major news outlet in the world ran with a Washington Post story on Monday night, that alleged President Trump gave classified intelligence to Russia. The president recently met with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, and Russian Ambassador, Sergei Kislyak, at the White House. The latter has been at the center of the left’s delusional Trump/Russia drama.
As is customary with stories from WaPo, the reporters cited several “anonymous sources,” whom they repeatedly referred to simply as “current and former U.S. officials.” And there is where the problems begin. First-why would a former U.S. official be able to speak about what happened in an Oval Office meeting? Doesn’t the word “former” imply that person no longer works in the government?
The second problem with their “bombshell” story, lies in the fact the President Trump isn’t stupid. He is well aware that there are leakers working in the White House. So, are people expected to believe that he would arbitrarily offer-up classified information knowing full well it could be leaked to the press? Not likely.
What is likely, however, is that the Washington Post is on a mission to destroy President Trump’s credibility. And National Security Adviser, H.R. McMaster, took them to task for what he called a….
In a short press conference Monday evening, McMaster told the media that “there is nothing the president takes more seriously than National Security.” He immediately addressed the WaPo article with confidence and frustration. “The story that came out tonight is false,” said McMaster. “The president and foreign minister reviewed a range of common threats to our two countries, including threats to civil aviation.”
McMaster continued slamming the story telling the media:
“At no time, at no time, were intelligence sources or methods discussed. And the president did not disclose military operations that were not already publicly known. Two other senior officials who were present, including the Secretary of State, remember the meeting the same way and have said so.”
This form of journalism is both dangerous and reckless. It undermines our government on a global stage and puts the country in the crosshairs of her enemies. WaPo has become nothing more than a cleverly disguised tabloid looking for the next sensational headline. And they are risking American lives to do it.
