Donald Trump’s performance at the third presidential debate is controversial. Mainstream media admitted that he had done his best at this debate. However, they reported that Trump was defeated by Hillary.

Regardless, Wallace asked plenty of good questions on controversial topics.

Chris Wallace, the moderator, asked him, “Where do you want to see the court take the country and how do you believe the Constitution should be interpreted?”

Choosing the Right Justices

To this, Donald Trump responded that it’s very important to have proper justices in office.

He then mentioned Justice Ginsburg who he said made some “very, very inappropriate statements toward me and toward a tremendous number or people.”  For that, she had to apologize.  She did apologize. But Trump stated that those remarks should have never been made.

NPR’s Carrie Johnson, Justice Correspondent, confirmed that “Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg did apologize for negative remarks she made about Donald Trump, which she called “ill-advised.”

Preserving the Second Amendment

He then went on to say that the Supreme Court should uphold the amendments, especially the Second Amendment.  In the event that Hillary should win, he said, then he foresees a reduction of the Second Amendment.

20 Justices

Donald Trump has identified 20 justices and they are pro-life.  He said,

They will be protecting the Second Amendment. They are great scholars in all cases, and they are people of tremendous respect. They will interpret the Constitution the way the founders wanted it interpreted. And I believe that’s very, very important.”

“I don’t think we should have justices appointed that decide what they want to hear. It’s all about the Constitution of — and so important — the Constitution, the way it was meant to be. And those are the people that I will appoint.”

Johnson confirms that he has identified over 20 candidates for the court including Judges William Pryor and Diane Sykes.  She adds, “Trump appears to be talking about judges who consider the text of the Constitution and an idea called “originalism,” supported for decades by the late Justice Antonin Scalia.”

Gun Rights

In regards to weaponry, Wallace later asked, “Let me bring in Mr. Trump back into it because, in fact, you oppose any limits on on assault weapons, any limits on high-capacity magazines, you support a national right to carry law, why sir?”

Trump responded by saying that Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the U.S. It also has more gun violence than any other city.  According to Johnson, Chicago is known for gun violence and it does have strong gun regulations.

The third debate was full of the main points that these candidates have built their campaigns upon.  From abortion to the Second Amendment, these candidates couldn’t agree less.
