If you are a mom, or know someone who is, then you have probably heard of “post-partum depression.” Approximately 600,000 women suffer from symptoms of the disorder every year in the United States. One of those women, is first daughter Ivanka Trump. Hoping to help other women, she is opening-up about her struggle.

In an interview with Doctor Oz, airing on Thursday, Ivanka reveals that she suffered with the illness after the birth of each of her children. Calling it an “emotional” time, she alludes to not feeling like the parent or businesswoman she felt she was capable of being. Something most moms can relate to, right?

“It was very – it was a very challenging, emotional time for me because I felt like I was not living up to my potential as a parent or as an entrepreneur and an executive,” Ivanka says. “And I had had such easy pregnancies, that in some way the juxtaposition hit me even harder.” Despite being in the spotlight, Ivanka is generally quiet about her personal life.

However, calling the issue of post-partum depression “incredibly important,” she hopes her revelation will help other moms. “Look, I consider myself a very hard-charging person, I am ambitious, I’m passionate, I’m driven but this is something that affects parents all over the country.”

In addition, Ivanka also talks about her roles as first daughter and senior adviser to her father, President Trump. She tells Dr. Oz that she isn’t afraid to speak candidly to her dad about the issues. Nevertheless, Ivanka says it is not her job to undermine her father’s agenda. “I respect the process” says Ivanka.

“The American people elected him based on his agenda.”

The president’s second oldest child, is very outspoken on women’s issues. Ivanka is currently promoting new legislation, that ensures paid maternity leave for working parents. She also serves on a board, that promotes female entrepreneurs around the globe. Nonetheless, that isn’t stopping critics from bashing her efforts.

Earlier this year, Ivanka’s clothing line was a target of leftist bullies. But, despite their attempts to shut-down her business, her company is thriving. And, her popularity reaches far beyond America’s borders. Around the world, businesses are registering trademarks and women are spending thousands to get Ivanka’s beautiful features.
