Fox News officially announced on Wednesday, that they are parting ways with Bill O’Reilly. A blunt statement from his lawyer, issued after Fox’ announcement, read in part that O’Reilly “has been subjected to a brutal campaign of character assassination that is unprecedented in post-McCarthyist America.” Despite the allegations, Fox had recently signed a multi-year contract with O’Reilly.

In an effort to maintain their high ratings absent O’Reilly, his top spot will now be filled by their second biggest draw, Tucker Carlson. On May 1st, “Five” member Eric Bolling will debut a one-hour program at 5 p.m., and Martha MacCallum will make her “First 100 Days” show permanent at 7 p.m.-according to Fox.
