Why Did Donald Trump Draw Hard Line On Illegal Immigration?

illegal immigration, Donald Trump

Hopes on the left, that Donald Trump was softening, (read flip-flopping) on illegal immigration were dashed Wednesday night. Instead, the presidential hopeful doubled down and drew a hard line.

Donald Trump vowed in his best speech yet, that anyone in America illegally will be deported. Period. “They’re gone” Trump reiterated.

Speaking to a crowd in Arizona, Trump took issue with the number of people typically quoted as illegal immigrants. “11 million people” Trump pointed out that we alway use that number. It’s been quoted for years without knowing the actual number. We don’t have “a clue” how many illegal immigrants made their way through our borders.

This is a problem Donald Trump is set on fixing.

There is only “one route” to immigration for those wanting to live here without fear of deportation under a Donald Trump presidency.

“To return home apply for re-entry.”

Not backing away from his early promise to build a great wall, even after his meeting in MexicoDonald Trump insists Mexico will pay for building the new border wall.

“Our message to the world will be this: You cannot obtain legal status or become a citizen of the United States by illegally entering our country,” Trump said.

“People will know you can’t just smuggle in, hunker down and wait to be legalized…Those days are over.”

Although Mexican President Nieto tried to tell Donald Trump, in their meeting before his speech in Mexico City, that Mexico would not pay for the wall “The Donald” dismissed it. He told the press that they will indeed pay for it. They just don’t know it yet.

Many on the republican side, who were also fearing a new softer Donald Trump was encouraged that he stood firm.

Donald Trump, illegal immigration

In Trump’s “magnificent” immigration speech, he went to great lengths to explain that his priority is to protect the American people. Those illegals who have committed serious crimes will be among the first to go.

“Anyone who has entered the United States illegally is subject to deportation.

That is what it means to have a country.” Donald Trump

Trump explained his priorities as President Trump.

First, he will establish a deportation task force. Its purpose will be to identify illegals that have committed serious crimes. They have to go. He will also increase the federal deportation officers and border patrol stations. His is a 10 point plan that is straightforward and riddled with common sense.

While it’s important to tell the American people how he plans on securing the border, it’s just as important to tell us why.

What the left calls isolationism, Donald Trump calls protection. As parents of children who died at the hands of illegal immigrants stood on the stage, it was clear, Donald Trump was moved with compassion. It looked as though, their pain strengthen his resolve.

That’s the kind of compassion America needs. Someone that will stand up against lawlessness instead of rewarding it.
