Wednesday was an explosive day on the internet. President Trump reacted to the news that NBC had fired longtime Today Show host, Matt Lauer. He also shared several videos that same morning. His tweets received harsh reactions from the left and led to more calls for his removal from the Oval Office.
The controversy first began when the president re-tweeted videos of Muslims allegedly terrorizing victims in the U.K. The graphic videos come from Britain First leader Jayda Fransen. Conservative pundit Ann Coulter originally posted the videos.
After the tweets, social media users and mainstream media levied accusations of racism and Islamophobia against President Trump. Several outlets claimed the videos were lies. However, according to the BBC, at least some of the reports are, in fact, true.
Not surprisingly, British Prime Minister Theresa May slammed Trump for sharing the videos. “I’m very clear that retweeting from Britain First was the wrong thing to do,” May said. “Britain First is a hateful organization, it seeks to spread division and distrust amongst our communities.”
Things got wors after President Trump remarked on news of Lauer’s termination. “So now that Matt Lauer is gone when will the Fake News practitioners at NBC be terminating the contract of Phil Griffin?” he asked. “And will they terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the ‘unsolved mystery’ that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!”
In response to the comments, Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski deemed President Trump as unfit for office. The pair called on Congress, and Trump’s cabinet, to remove him under the 25th Amendment clause:
“You represent 325 million people whose lives are literally in your hands, and we are facing a showdown with a nuclear power and you have somebody inside the White House that the New York Daily News says is mentally unfit; that people close to him say is mentally unfit; that people close to him during the campaign told me had early stages of dementia.”
Regardless of their ramblings, these attacks are nothing more than another attempt by the left to silence the president. Trump sharing the truth about the threat of Islamic terrorism or the hypocrisy of liberal media is not a sign of mental instability.
On the contrary, it’s a sign the country finally has a leader that is interested in protecting Americans from the dangers of leftist deceptions. Trump has them running scared, and it shows.
