As many as 1,500 Central American migrants march towards the U.S. to demand asylum. It’s a new week, and Mexico is feeling President Trump’s wrath. The president slammed Mexican officials for not stopping the marching immigrants. The primarily Central American natives are coming to demand asylum and Trump is furious.
Over the weekend, news began circulating about a group of Hondurans trekking through Mexico. Buzzfeed writer Adolfo Flores is tagging along to document their march to the United States allegedly in search of a better life.
Naturally, all of the left-wing media is fawning over the story. They’re using customary words like “heroic” or “brave” to describe the caravan. Supporters at various points along the route are providing the illegal immigrants with supplies like food, water, and blankets.
However, not everyone is pleased with the invasion including President Trump.
One likely reason is that he’s well aware that the majority of MS-13 gang members hail from Central America. The president expressed his frustration with Mexico on Twitter, suggesting they are amused at America’s lack of tough immigration laws.
Mexico Must Do More
“Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S.,” Trump said. “They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flow or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!”
On Monday, Trump doubled-down by calling out Mexican leaders for not stopping the caravan. Mexico’s immigration laws are well-known to be far stricter than those the U.S. has imposed in the past. And yet, they continue to encourage and financially aid illegal immigrants in America.
“Mexico has the absolute power not to let these large “Caravans” of people enter their country,” tweeted the president. “They must stop them at their Northern Border, which they can do because their border laws work, not allow them to pass through into our country, which has no effective border laws…”
Now, just in case there is any confusion about their intent, the illegal immigrants marching towards the U.S. made their purpose clear. The caravan hopes “American authorities will grant them asylum,” or, at least, “be absent when they attempt to cross the border illegally.”
We’re hoping ICE and BPD will be there to greet them when they arrive.
