Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump, Jr. stood up for his father saying that his father’s “locker room talk” is just a “fact of life.” On KIRO radio’s Dori Monson Show, Trump Jr. stood fast by Donald Trump who is in trouble for saying that he groped and kissed women without their consent in 2005.
Standing Up for His Dad
He said, “Obviously he’s not happy about that, but I think we all probably know guys who have had conversations with guys who go a little bit in that direction. That’s a fact of life. I think he’s able to relate to ordinary Americans, because in many ways he is very much like that. He does do that. He hasn’t spent his whole life sitting there polishing every statement he’s ever made — every conversation he’s ever had. He doesn’t run a focus group so he can tell you what he’s thinking. He speaks from the heart.”
Trump did apologize for his comments right after the tape was released. He apologetically said, “I never said I’m a perfect person nor pretended to be someone that I’m not. I’ve said and done things I regret… Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize.”
Forgive and Move On
Hillary Clinton, the Democrats, and any celebrity who wants to keep their jobs spoke up to condemn Trump for the things he has said. His daughter and wife acknowledged that the things he said were offensive, but they remain supportive. His son says that his father has learned from those tapes. He explained, “I said it, I was wrong and I apologize. He’s able to make a mistake because he hasn’t spent his whole life just trying to be a politician.”
Monson, the host, is a fan of Trump. Monson told Trump, Jr. that he is still wrestling with the comments Trump made. He explained, “I’m not asking you to explain away your dad, but I wrestle with that because I like your dad personally. I’m the father of three daughters — who are all in their 20s — and if I heard somebody talking around my girls like we heard on the Access Hollywood [leaked tapes], it’d be done for me.”
But The Democrats Can Do It
Trump, Jr. later pointed out that Democrats and Hillary Clinton frequently get away with these types of things. They do what they want, make an apology for it later, wash, rinse, repeat. He also says that it was so convenient for this to come out right now about the tape and those women making sexual assault claims just a few weeks before Election day.
He said, “Give me a break. That stuff wasn’t going to come out when he was doing ‘The Apprentice’ and he was on TV on one of the number one shows in the country every week? It just shows you how rigged this system is and how disgusting it is. It makes it difficult for someone to want to do it.”
