Those on the left that criticize President Trump for lacking foreign policy experience just got a rude awakening. Sending out 2017 with a bang, Trump shared a video of his interview with Meet the Press where he discusses North Korea. It’s definitely something Bill Clinton doesn’t want you to see.
Tensions between the U.S. and Pyongyang reached a boiling point towards the end of last year. Despite numerous sanctions, Kim Jong-un remained defiant in his pursuit of nuclear technology. The ego-maniacal dictator conducted 25 separate missile tests throughout 2017. It was a problem that businessman Donald Trump saw coming nearly 20 years ago.
The revealing video, shared by Trump on Twitter, starts out with former president Bill Clinton discussing his 1994 deal with North Korea. Known as the “Agreed Framework,” the agreement essentially required the U.S. to trust that Pyongyang would destroy its nuclear reactors.
Naturally, Clinton touted the deal as good for America because the regime couldn’t acquire nuclear weapons. Although, we don’t think the citizens of Hawaii would agree given the Cold War-era warning sirens blaring in their ears once a month.
Nevertheless, the real kicker came after the portion with Clinton. The video cuts to Trump’s interview where he criticized the deal saying North Korea must be dealt with lest they become a problem in the future.
“You want to do it in five years when they have warheads pointed all over the place, every one of them pointed at New York City or Washington?” Trump said in response to being asked how he’d respond to warnings about the regime from U.S. military leaders. “It’s better to do it now.”
To make his point clear, the video concluded with a recent segment from Fox News discussing the threat. In the clip, Jennifer Griffin reports that North Korean missiles are now capable of reaching the U.S. mainland.
Unfortunately, nobody listened then. And many on the left aren’t listening now. History has proven that “liberal deals” with rogue regimes are void of any substance. Chemical weapons in Syria and the Iran Nuclear deal are both prime examples of failing foreign policies pushed by Democrats.
“I’ve been saying it for a long, long time. #NoKo,” the president captioned the video. At least now he can do something about it.
