When the word hits that Congressman Trey Gowdy is weighing in on Democrats, the sun seems to shine a little brighter. This week, while commenting on testimony from Steve Bannon, he dropped a bomb on the entire Russia investigation that will rain on leftist’s parade.
Bannon, former chief strategist for the Trump campaign, testified before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday. Wednesday morning, Gowdy spoke to Fox News’ Martha McCallum and shared his thoughts.
The congressman, who also sits on the committee, began the interview with a warning to special counsel Robert Mueller. Specifically, Gowdy cautioned Mueller not to count on Bannon to build a case against Trump because he isn’t credible.
“I think the only thing dangerous for President Trump or his campaign is credible evidence,” Gowdy told McCallum. “This is the same witness that said there was a zero percent chance that the Russian lawyer wasn’t walked up to Trump, and when he was asked what that evidence was, he came up with nothing.”
Additionally, “the Bulldog” called out Bannon for referring to the June 2016 Donald Trump Jr. meeting as an act of treason. “If they’re hinging the entire case on Steve Bannon’s credibility, good luck to the prosecution,” Gowdy added.
Gowdy Torches Adam Schiff
Later in the day, the South Carolina Republican appeared on America’s Newsroom where he lambasted Democrats. “Some of my colleagues have already made up their minds, namely Adam Schiff,” Gowdy told Bill Hemmer. “He found collusion before we even started. I’m not sure how you do that, but he did it.”
Schiff, a California Democrat, is an outspoken Trump critic. On Twitter, he stirred the pot after Bannon testified by suggesting that Republicans are “trying to shut down the Russia probe.” Schiff also tweeted that they have made “important progress” towards exposing Russia meddling.
However, contrary to Schiff’s fearmongering remarks, Gowdy made it clear that their investigations have turned up nothing. “I have seen no evidence of collusion between the president and the Russians, the president’s campaign and the Russians…” he confirmed.
