A person who refuses to humble themselves will, inevitably, be hobbled by their superiority. The View co-host Joy Behar learned that lesson after rejoicing on air over ABC’s fake Trump-Flynn story.
News spread on Thursday, that former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, made a plea deal with Robert Muller. On Friday, hysteria skyrocketed thanks to a story from ABC investigative reporter, Brian Ross.
Now suspended, Ross falsely claimed that Flynn was going to testify that then-candidate Trump directly asked him to contact Russia. The explosive claim circulated rapidly on social media, and the stock market dipped more than 400 points.
Jumping on the bandwagon, the women of The View made the story the focus of their show. Behar in particular reacted with jubilation. “Michael Flynn promised full cooperation to the [Robert] Mueller team,” Behar told the audience, “and is prepared to testify that, as a candidate, Donald Trump directed him to make contact with the Russians.”
The Best Part
After sharing the main points, Behar made a complete fool of herself. “Yay. Wow! He goes to jail! Lock him up!” she yelled to cheers and applause. “This is the antithesis of election night. On election night, I had to wear a veil, I was in mourning. So, this is like the antithesis of that hideous night, and that is why I am happy.”
Making the segment even more insane, CNN analyst Ann Navarro joined Behar in celebrating the news. She too was convinced that Christmas was coming early for Trump-haters. “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and it’s beginning to look a lot like collusion,” Navarro exclaimed.
Completely oblivious that the story is fake news, Behar suggested that President Trump should willingly step-down. “… Richard Nixon stepped down, and so should Donald Trump,” she said. “It’s a happy day, come on.”
Indeed, it is a “happy day.” A happy day for Trump’s supporters, that is. After a year of watching and listening to these women disparaging the president and his family, this is total and complete vindication. Seems Christmas did come early.
ABC removed the original YouTube video of the segment but you can watch (and laugh) at this clip:
