America’s streets are a little safer today because of President Trump. A six-week joint operation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security just netted hundreds of violent gang members across the country.

On Thursday, DHS announced that 200 violent gang members and suspected associates are now off the streets. According to officials, federal agents and local police arrested 93 alleged MS-13 members and associates on federal or state charges that ranged from murder to assault.

Another 121 are under arrest for administrative immigration violations that will likely result in deportation from the U.S. The operation, which ended on November 11, took months to plan and targeted the most dangerous members of the street gang.

The “MS” in MS-13 stands for Mara Salvatrucha. The now-international criminal gang originated in Los Angeles, California in the 1980s. The group later spread to other countries including Canada and Mexico.

Turning to gun running, drug-smuggling, and human trafficking, MS-13 activities have helped to make Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras the most violent places in the world that are not at war. U.S. factions often recruit new members from these countries, making their gangs even more dangerous.

Derek Benner, a senior special ICE agent who oversees its homeland security investigations, highlighted the threat they pose to America. “MS-13 is one of the greatest public safety risks in our communities,” said Brennan, while discussing details of the operation.

President Trump has warned of the dangers surrounding MS-13 from day one. “They don’t shoot people because it’s too fast and not painful. They cut them up into little pieces,” he said in August. “MS-13 are the equivalent in their meanness to al Qaeda.”

Long Island, New York is a hotbed for the criminal gang. Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited the city back in April to address the growing problem. Sessions said that MS-13’s motto is “kill, rape, and control,” while the DOJ’s is “justice for victims and consequences for criminals.”

Shortly after Sessions’ visit, “Operation Matador” captured 45 illegals, 39 of whom were directly associated with MS-13. In a subsequent visit, President Trump addressed gang members, vowing to end their reign of terror.

“We will find you, we will arrest you, we will jail you, and we will deport you.”
