We never thought we’d see the day when a host of The View would defend President Trump. And yet miraculously, here we are telling you the story. As you are probably aware, the president has been in a “basket-brawl” with LaVar Ball. Their battle of words has now escalated to the point that Whoopi Goldberg is taking sides.

Ball’s son, LiAngelo, landed in jail along with two other UCLA players for shoplifting in China earlier this month. At the time of their arrest, President Trump was on a 12-day diplomatic trip to East Asia. After learning of the situation, Trump spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping. about the matter.

Shortly afterward, LiAngelo along with Jalen Hill, and Cody Riley were boarding a plane back home to America. All three of the players later thanked the president for his assistance but LaVar took a different approach. Rather than thank President Trump for making sure his son didn’t spend ten years in prison, Ball downplayed his involvement.

Naturally, Ball’s comments drew a stern reaction from the president. But, rather than accept he was wrong, he doubled-down on his attacks in an interview with CNN. President Trump fired back again, calling him an “ungrateful fool.” This time, however, he wasn’t the only person criticizing Ball for his lack of gratitude.

A National Embarrassment

Several people have weighed in on the feud, including Goldberg. “You embarrassed your families, you embarrassed the country, and you embarrassed the president,” Goldberg said on Friday. “Now I’m not a big fan of the president, but the fact that he had to call and get your asses out of there is not anything to be proud of or think is cool.”

Even more surprising, her co-hosts agreed with her. The other ladies backed-up Goldberg’s take on the situation, essentially calling the players stupid for shoplifting in a foreign country. “They caused an international incident where the president had to get involved and call the president of another country,” said Sonny Hostin. “This is really significant.”

Needless to say, we doubt anyone thinks that The View is going to go into full Trump-support mode after this. After all, they have taken low to a new level when it comes to talking about the Trump family.
