When we say that President Trump has had a mess to clean-up after eight years of the Obama administration, it is probably an understatement. It’s hard to believe that one of the most beautiful states in America is now looking to update their disaster preparedness policies in case of a nuclear attack. Sadly, that is exactly what lawmakers have been doing in Hawaii.
From Hawaii News Now:
Hawaii lawmakers want state officials to update plans for coping with a nuclear attack as North Korea develops nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles that can reach the islands. The state House Public Safety Committee unanimously passed a resolution Thursday. Committee Vice Chairman Matt LoPresti says he’s not trying to spread fear. But he wants the public to know the government is taking steps to protect them in the worst case scenario.

Some of Hawaii’s safety precautions include reopening Cold war-era fallout shelters that date back to 1981. Educating the Public
Toby Clairmont, an executive officer for Hawaii’s Emergency Management Agency, wants citizens to know what they should in case the nightmare of nuclear war should hit the country. The public safety plan has not been updated since 1985 and as Clairmont noted, a lot has changed since then.
Kim Jong-Un recently celebrated North Korea’s “Day of the Sun” where he proudly displayed an array of new tanks and ballistic missiles that showcased the regions military power.
His latest attempt at a missile launch was reportedly unsuccessful. Nevertheless, a defector from the country has warned that the dictator is preparing to go to war with the world.
Chinese President, Xi Jinping, is reportedly working with President Trump to halt Kim Jong-Un’s development of nuclear weapons. In addition, the president has ordered a U.S. Navy strike group to monitor the peninsula. As millions wait with baited breath, we can only pray that Hawaii’s plans will never have to be activated.
