New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio, drew widespread criticism last week after he flew to Hamburg to join protesters at the G20 summit. The violent protests injured more than 400 police officers and caused millions of dollars in damages.
The mayor chose to make the trip despite the fact that a Bronx police officer, a single mother of three, had just been murdered.
To nobody’s surprise, he didn’t receive a warm welcome home.

And once again, officers turned their back on their mayor. Dozens of officers took to their cell phones or began conversations with fellow officers as de Blasio spoke outside the memorial for Miosotis Familia.
And for good reason.

Mayor de Blasio has been openly hostile towards law enforcement, often taking the side of criminals and illegal immigrants. He’s even spent time celebrating with Black Lives Matter activists, being fully aware of their call to murder police officers. Independent mayoral candidate Richard Dietl, a former gang detective hoping to unseat de Blasio, slammed him in a statement before the funeral saying he intended to tell him to his face that he “is a disgrace.” His job calls for him to stay here and deal with a suffering city in mourning,” Dietl said.
The NYPD has been very critical of the mayor’s policies. Back in March President of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, Ed Mullins, gave a radio address attacking de Blasio’s refusal to cooperate with ICE. “Make no mistake about it, the members of law enforcement in the NYPD want to cooperate with ICE. I speak to cops every day — they want to cooperate with ICE, they want to work with fellow law enforcement agents,” said Mullins.
Mayor de Blasio made the trip to Germany to show the world “President Trump doesn’t represent Americans.” However, it’s painfully clear that he is the one who doesn’t like Americans. Or police officers. He doesn’t even appear to like America.
It’s too bad that he didn’t buy a one-way ticket.
