The heat is on Time Warner and TBS Network after comedian Samantha Bee attacked First Daughter Ivanka Trump. Because of Bee’s vulgar comments, at least one sponsor pulled their ads from her show.
Wednesday evening, Samantha Bee decided to attack Ivanka over a Twitter post. In the innocent tweet, the mother of three and senior White House adviser shared a pic of herself hugging her youngest son Theodore.
On her TBS show Full Frontal, Bee tied the sweet photo to a story about President Trump separating children from their illegal immigrant parents. What Bee had to say is both filthy and abhorrent. However, we want you to get the full picture, so we are sharing her commentary:
“Ivanka Trump, who works at the White House, chose to post the second most oblivious tweet we’ve seen this week. You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c*nt. He listens to you. Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fu**ing stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, OK?”
Suffice it to say, it didn’t take long for Ivanka supporters (and anyone else with common decency) to fire off about the attack. Not surprisingly, one of the first responses came directly from the White House.
Samantha Bee Under Fire
In a statement to reporters, on behalf of President Trump, Sanders slammed the media’s silence.
“Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network,” Sanders said. “The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling.”
Similarly, Melania Trump’s office issued a scathing statement on the attack. “The double standard is truly astounding,” said Stephanie Grisham. “Time and again the Trump family and members of this Administration are subjected to false reporting, hateful rhetoric and outrageous lies all in the name of freedom of speech or comedy, yet the main stream media stays silent.”
In addition to the social media backlash, Autotrader pulled their ads from the show. “Thank you to those who reached out regarding our sponsorship of Full Frontal. The comments expressed by Samantha Bee were offensive and unacceptable and do not reflect the views of our company,” they said. “As a result, we have suspended our sponsorship of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.”
Incidentally, Samantha Bee issued an apology to Ivanka Trump on Twitter. “I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night,” she wrote. “It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”
We’ll see if her apology results in a better outcome than it did for Roseanne Barr and her show. Let’s hope not, but it usually works out for hateful leftists, so we aren’t holding our breath. TBS and Time Warner had not responded to the controversy at the time this was published.
