Why Did Lindsey Buckingham Abandon Fleetwood Mac?
According to Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham wanted to wait another year to go on the road, but the band couldn’t wait because of Stevie Nicks’ schedule. But, as things generally go with Fleetwood Mac, there’s always more to the story.
The band brought in Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Neil Finn from Crowded House. According to the band, whenever someone leaves, it’s Mick Fleetwood’s job to find a replace. This is true today like it was in 1969.
“We are going to go back through all of the fantastic music that these people made before Lindsey and I joined the band,” said lead singer Stevie Nicks. This partially means more of a blues sound in this new tour. “I’m always going to have total respect for the years…when I first met Lindsey in 1968. I stayed in that relationship for the music.”
Either way, was clearly a good idea to name the band after the rhythms section, since these two are the only original members. As for the two new members, they were both stunned to get the call from Mick Fleetwood.
