What Jimmy Page Has Up His Sleeve For His New Solo Album
For years, former Led Zeppelin star Jimmy Page gas been hinting at a new musical project. It’s possible that his focus has been elsewhere, since he’s been working to catalog Zeppelin’s music for a 50th anniversary celebration, but that’s now complete.
In 2015, Jimmy Page said the new project would surprisingly involve the acoustic guitar. “I intend to be doing something which obviously will surface as a sort of album somewhere,” he said.
At the time, all he could add was, “It’ll surface further on down the line.”
Musician Jimmy Page Talks Solo Career
“I’m looking forward to doing whatever the project is,” said Jimmy Page. “But if you think about all the areas that I’ve attempted, guitar, where it’s acoustic or electric or whatever, all the different approaches that I’ve done, it’s just gonna be an extension of that, and that’s it.”
Jimmy Page finally concluded, “So it’s not just acoustic, it’s not just electric, it’s everything I can muster up.” In more recent interviews, Page finally confirmed that a Led Zeppelin reunion likely won’t happen.
Therefore, he should have more time to focus on this solo album.
Led Zeppelin Gets Further Away From Reuniting
“You’ve got to face facts,” said Page in an interview with Billboard. “We’ve gone past the tenth anniversary of the O2, where we managed to do one serious concert.” That’s the only thing that the group has done in years.
“I very much doubt we’ll do anything else. I really think the time has gone,” said the musician. The 50th anniversary will also include a photo book that showcases contributions from the three surviving members of the band.
Page also outlined some of the Led Zeppelin products that may come out to mark the anniversary. “I can’t give the game away, but there’s a recording that’s another multi-track that we’ll release,” he told the press.
Page is working on an album, but Robert Plant has created several albums in the mean time. Most recently, his album Carry Fire has been climbing the charts.
