Most people are surprised that the Beatles broke up but the real shocker is that the Rolling Stones never did. After fifty-four years, the Rolling Stones are still working and collaborating on a new album for fans.
Over the past two years, the band has spent some time in the studio working on original recordings for the first time in a decade. The Rolling Stones haven’t worked on a record since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.
Guitarist Keith Richards still think it will take a while to finish the album but he has promised that they’re working on it.
Keith Richards Promises New Stones Album
Richards told the press “it will happen” in regards to the new album. “We have some stuff down, which is very interesting. It’s more difficult for us to write together the further apart we are, but it also has its benefits in that we come back to it from a different angle.”
Over the years, Richards and Mick Jagger have had their problems but when they get in the songwriting room, they can still get the work done. “Mick and I live off this fire between us,” added the guitarist.
But Richards may have taken things too far when he publically made comments about Jagger’s newborn.
An Apology From A Comment Out Of Line
“Mick’s a randy old bastard,” joked Richards. “It’s time for the snip-you can’t be a father at that age. Those poor kids!” At the time, the guitarist was talking about his frontman, who is in his mid-seventies with a kid on the way.
Not long after, Richards apologized on Twitter for the comment. “I deeply regret the comments I made about Mick in the WSJ which were completely out of line. I have of course apologized to him in person.”
Richards has since talked about their work together. He finds writing for Mick a challenge. Basically, he wants to do work that he is comfortable with as a performer, rather than something outside of their realm.
“I’m writing for the lead singer of the Rolling f**king Stones, and that is my job,” said Keith Richards. He wants to write something he knows Mick will want to perform.
