Luke Bryan Just Unveiled News About the Farm Tour 2016

Luke Bryan is playing shows in the middle of nowhere, then giving away the money he makes.

Yep, you read that right. So what’s his deal?

For several years now, Bryan’s been going out into rural areas to play shows for fans with the ticket proceeds going right back into that community. Part of the tickets will go toward college scholarships to help students from farming families.

He’s wanted to do this type of project since before he made it big. He said if he were ever to have great success, he’d want to “throw a big party in a field.” That’s when this idea was sowed, and now’s he’s reaping the results (sorry, I couldn’t resist).

His support of farming communities comes from his farming background. His father was a peanut farmer, so he appreciates the farmer’s work ethic. He knows that farmers are crucial to the U.S.

And if he had not signed a record deal, he may be a farmer to this day.

“I would either be working at my dad’s fertilizer/peanut company, or I would probably be in some kind of real estate stuff with my brother-in-law,” he told CMT.com. “Probably, I would have been driving a tractor hauling peanuts, breathing a lot of peanut dust, so I’m glad I’m singing.”

This year’s Farm Tour will start in Gaston, South Carolina on October 5 and will end in Effingham, Illinois. He’s invited some friends to come along and play music with him, including Chris Janson, Granger Smith, Jon Langston, the Peach Pickers’ Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip.

Bryan’s documentarian, the guy who follows him on all his tours to film everything he does, explains why the Farm Tour is different than Bryan’s other tours.

“Luke puts his whole deal on,” he said. “He’s in charge of tickets, parking, the stage — everything.”

Not only that, but Bryan will release an EP just a week or so before he kicks off the tour, “Here’s To The Farmer.” He’s planning to unveil it on September 23.
