COUNTRY NEWS: What Brantley Gilbert Did At His Show Will Fill You With Joy

By Danielle Hathcock | Monday Monday Staff -    2017-12-15

Here is the weekly round-up of this week’s hottest country news. In this edition, we find Carrie Underwood‘s Christmas traditions, a very special moment at a Brantley Gilbert concert, and an incredible honor for Dierks Bentley.

Underwood’s New Christmas Tradition

Carrie Underwood shared on Instagram that she now has a new tradition with son Isaiah. The “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer posted an adorable photo to Instagram of her two-year-old son decorating a Christmas tree cookie, complete with green candies on top. According to the caption, Christmas cookies are now an official tradition in the Fisher household. Isaiah loved the frosting. She also shared that this was her first time making Christmas cookies.

A Brantley Gilbert Proposal

One lucky couple in New York got the spotlight at a Brantley Gilbert concert, both literally and figuratively.

Justin Orth proposed to girlfriend Julia Roessler at one of Gilbert’s shows. Despite Julia’s confusion of the situation in the beginning, she eagerly said yes. In fact, poor Justin was on his knee for a bit before she even noticed him. However, this actually worked to his benefit.

Luckily for Justin, he had seats near the stage. Gilbert saw what was happening, and stopped the show. He instructed his crew to put the spotlight on the couple and to put the moment on the large screen on-stage. The two were on-screen when she agreed to marry him. Such an awesome moment for the happy couple (watch on the video above).

A Special Honor

The last bit of this week’s hottest country news is a special honor given to Dierks Bentley. According to Taste of Country, the country star has been selected as the recipient of the CRS 2018 Artist Humanitarian Award for his extensive charitable work.

The honor is awarded by the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to a country music artist who has “exhibited exceptional humanitarian efforts during their career.” Bentley receives the accolade for his Miles & Music for Kids motorcycle ride and concert. This effort raised more than $4 million for children’s hospitals across the country.

Carrie Underwood is a past recipient of the award.

That’s the wrap for this week’s juicy tidbits. Country music is never dull for even a moment. Check back next Friday for another roundup of the week’s hottest country music news.
