The Queen of Country is so determined and fearless, it’s difficult to imagine anything giving her anxiety. But even Reba McEntire gets nervous. She discussed her fears with Kelly Rippa and Ryan Seacrest on Live with Kelly and Ryan. And though one of her anxieties won’t surprise you, the other one most likely will.
The Anxiety Of A Mother
The marriage of Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock produced a son, Shelby Blackstock. Shelby, now age 28, is a race car driver. One can only imagine the anxiety any mother would feel when her son was sitting on the starting line. McEntire is no different about Shelby.
When Kelly Ripa asked if Shelby’s race car driving makes her nervous, Reba immediately replied, “Yes.” She then added, “I’m praying all through the whole race, ‘Keep him safe, keep everybody safe, all the drivers.’”
Of course, given that Shelby is her only child, that can only intensify her nerves. Fortunately, Shelby has been thus far safe in his driving career.
Reba McEntire Gets Starstruck
When you’re as famous as Reba McEntire, you can’t imagine being starstruck by anyone else. Seriously, people become starstruck when they encounter her. So it came as a surprise to us, and to Kelly and Ryan, that such an internationally famous figure gets self-conscious around other big stars.
McEntire said that she likes to be approachable. She admitted that she receives a warm welcome wherever she goes. And that people like to come up to her and tell her what her music has meant to them. “That’s fun,” she said. But when it comes to her approaching other stars, it’s a different story.
“I get a little scared if I see somebody that’s famous and I kinda want to go say hi, but then you don’t know if they’re going to be in a good mood,” she confessed. Her hosts, in their surprise, pointed out her fame. But McEntire just dismissed it with a smile.
It’s endearing to see Reba McEntire struggle with the same anxiety that most of us have. She is just so down-to-earth. Makes us love her even more.
