Splitsville: The 5 Most Shocking Country Music Divorce Stories

Life as a country music artist definitely has its downsides. Despite the fame and fortune, being successful means lots of hours in the studio and even more hours on the road. And absence doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. So it isn’t surprising how many country music couples call it quits. What is surprising are who the divorces belong to.

Arguably the one of the most surprising (and famous) of all the country divorces, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert rocked the world with news of their 2015 split. For one thing, there was no rocky period that would have set the stage for them calling it quits. In fact, the two seemed to be enjoying marital bliss as country royalty. For another, the divorce itself was incredibly fast.

Because of how quickly the divorce occurred and how out of the blue it seemed, there was speculation that cheating was the issue. Despite allegations of Blake having cheated for years, this time the rumor was that Lambert was to blame. Initially, the tabloids reported an affair with Chris Young, but he quickly and vehemently denied that.

What was also notable about this country couple was how fast they both moved on– especially Shelton. Less than 6 months after he filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert, he publicly announced his new relationship with No Doubt lead singer and fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani. Lambert began dating Anderson East for the next two years, though that relationship seems to have ended in early 2018.
