Miranda Lambert typically writes and sings her own music. But that isn’t all she does. Though she is definitely a country artist, she isn’t afraid to bring her Texas tang to other genres. And though you won’t hear her doing a lot of pop-country (she isn’t much Taylor Swift), she does occasionally crossover to create some stunning cover songs. Here are the best of them.
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”
U2 scored huge with this hit. The song was part of their 1987 smash album, The Joshua Tree. Arguably, that album is their most iconic work, containing such hits as “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “With Or Without You,” and “Where the Streets Have No Name.” The Irish rock band also won a Grammy for “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
U2 is so huge that even other stars follow them. When they embarked on their stadium tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree, Miranda Lambert was in the crowd of the band’s show in Louisville, Kentucky. After the show, she sent out a tweet that read “This changed my life. And my way of thinking. About music & art. About drive & heart. Thank you @U2. I’ll never be the same.”
Following that, she closed her show at the Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Michigan with the band’s Grammy-winning song. You can watch her perform in the clip captured by one of her fans. And it’s worth the watch. Her country voice married to their soulful Irish ballad is stunning.
