Almost here! Yes, the 2017 Country Music Association Awards are just a few days away. There’s the music, fashion, and speeches, oh my! And what better way to celebrate the community that is country music than with an all-out, boot-stompin’, kickin’ awards party?

The Food

Seriously, what is a party without food? Parties are the time to indulge in all the sweet and salty goodies that we typically say no to the rest of the year. Besides, all the kiddos enjoyed Halloween just a week before. It’s the grown-ups’ turn now.

If you want great country recipes, why not try the wife of the man who is a country music megastar? Ok, that might not be obvious. Here’s the answer: Trisha Yearwood!

Trisha (who’s been married to Garth Brooks for about a dozen years now), has her show, Trisha’s Southern Kitchen. And her heavy-hitting Southern comfort recipes are on the Food Network website. From glazed donuts to peach cobbler, everything is there.

By the way, it’s also rumored that she’s dressing up as her husband on her show for Halloween, so keep a lookout for that!

The Music

Of course, the music will include all of the great artists and songs nominated this year! Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, and Little Big Town are all contenders for Best Album. There are also amazing new artists, such as Jon Pardi and Luke Combs. You can easily create a party-long playlist of hot releases.

The Event

Make watching the event extra fun by selecting your top picks from each category. Have a prize for each winner, including a grand prize for the person who wins the most categories. Prizes could include CDs, artist tee shirts, or even something as grand as concert tickets!

If you want something less pricey, consider having everyone bringing a prize. Also, consider doing silly awards that can be swapped out. Think of it as a CMA white-elephant exchange!

Whatever you decide to do, have fun with it. It is, after all, “Country Music’s Biggest Night.”
