A Special Thank You Letter

Ty, Kelly & Chuck morning show was conducting a campaign for service members. It was the “100k Thanks You’s” campaign, in which fans of the show wrote thank you letters to military service members. The hosts wanted the military to know how how much their fans love and support their service. Guests of the show frequently read the letters.

Brooks had the opportunity on the show to read the final letter of the 100k campaign. The 100,000th letter was written by a fan named Lindsay. And as he began reading it, Brooks became emotional on air.

“It’s an honor I don’t deserve”

Lindsay’s letter read, “Thank you for your service. Thank you for devoting your life to fighting for our freedom. I can’t thank you enough for your service. Please know how much you are appreciated.” She decorated it with patriotic stars.

He was slightly tearful reading it. After he finished, Garth said, “Amen. Lindsay, you are dead on. I don’t know if Lindsay has children, but this is every parent’s card to the men and women who secure our children’s dreams. I can’t think of anybody who deserves it more than our military men and women, past, present and future.”

Brooks also shared the honor he felt reading the final letter. “First of all, it’s an honor I do not deserve,” Brooks says. “So thank you for what you do.”

Radio host Ty Bentli said the 100k cards were actually just the tip of the iceberg. “We probably have at least 200,000 cards,” he said. And they are sending all of them overseas to those who can’t be home for the holidays.
