When Country comes to town, heads turn. And that’s exactly what the sizzling red carpet fashion of the 2017 Country Music Association Awards did.
Hosting with Brad Paisley for the 10th consecutive year, Underwood wowed the red carpet photographers and fans. Her look was uncommon for her.
Ditching her usual sequined ballgowns this year, she wore a structured vibrant blue gown. The dress included a fishtail hem, fitted bodice, low cutout neckline with mesh inlay, and long sleeves. She topped the ensemble with statement earrings and a matching bold ring. Also, a departure, was her hair. Sideswept bangs took the place of her usual loose locks.
Of course, Underwood will have about 1,000 costume changes during the Awards. Her red carpet one was just the first. The star recently gave People a tour of her dressing room. It has racks of dresses. In 2016, she revealed to the magazine that she doesn’t try on every look for the rehearsal show.
“When we get the running order of the show, we’re like, ‘Okay these are complicated, so we’re gonna need more time,’ so we try to just plan where things that might need a little more time get a little more time,” she explained.
Her fastest change record? 40 seconds! Set in 2012, she did practice that one in rehearsal “because it was such a fast change.”
Ballerini also turned heads on the red carpet with a look inspired by classic Hollywood.
The 24-year-old star channeled vintage fashion with a long, beaded gown that included a twist of a modern cutout. In keeping with the theme, she sported 1940s wavy locks, a barrette pinning back one side.
Her makeup blended seamlessly with the look. Instead of dark, smoky eyes, the “Get Over Yourself” singer wore yellow gold metallic eyeshadow on her lids. Her cheeks radiated with serious highlight. Contoured cheeks and dramatic, fluffy eyelashes completed her look.
Miranda recently joked that she’s given up on men. However, with her look on the red carpet last night, there’s little chance that feeling is mutual.
Lambert arrived in a Cinderella ballgown of ice blue accented with crystals and embroidery. The waist accent highlighted her hourglass figure. Lambert’s sophistically styled hair revealed soft waves, as opposed to her oft-seen curls. Perfectly applied cat-eyeliner showed on her lids. Her lips were soft pink.
Of course, Lambert was also one of the CMA performers, so this was just her red carpet look. She came to the show with a litany of nominations.
The country-star-recently-turned-model opted for a sexier and more modern number than several of her counterparts. She joked to PeopleStyle that she’s not the traditional star, though.
“I mean, I’m five-foot-one and I’ve got short brunette hair—I’m not the typical country-looking starlet. But I think that’s what gravitates my fans to me and my music. I definitely have an edge to what I say in my songs and it translates visually as well to my personal style.”
The star’s mesh gown included a shorter fishtail hem and ruffles. She wore beaded silver shoes, noticeable thanks to her hemline. Her statement necklace accented the look. However, her diamond engagement ring also stood out! Morris’ sleek, straight ombre brunette hair was a nice touch of simplicity next to her dress.
Morris also had the opportunity to perform on-stage at the Awards.
Jesse James Decker
This country pop star made the red carpet sizzle in her red gown! Jesse James Decker donned a cranberry, off-the-shoulder gown with a low neckline and straight skirt. The dress accented her growing baby bump.
Pregnant with her third child from husband Eric Decker, the star was anxious to be home. She told The CMA Awards: All Access Livestream, “[I’m already thinking about] taking my shoes off at the end of the night … I’m such a nester.”
One of Nashville’s power couples, Faith and Tim arrived in red carpet style.
Faith wore a sparkling one-shoulder gown that included a fluffy black ruffle on one side. Her jewelry was simple, as was her hair. A basic bun set atop her head. Tim arrived with a bit more color, including a burnt orange tuxedo jacket. His traditional black cowboy hat sat on his head.
The two recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary and continue to tour together.
Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley
The other co-host of the night, Paisley arrived on the red carpet with his wife before proceeding to host the show.
Kimberly Williams-Paisley donned a silver-blue embroidered gown with an asymmetrical hem. The gown had a low neckline with shoulder straps gracing the tops of her arms. A statement necklace and ring completed the outfit, along with a pair of black heels.
Paisley opted for a more low-key, monochromatic black tux. His one noticeable fashion statement was the sequins on his lapels. However, there wasn’t much need for him to stand out. He arrived next to his beautiful wife, and would later be next to his beautiful co-star. A man knows when he’s been outgunned.
This country megastar stunned on the red carpet! With a form-fitting off-black and black sequined dress, this redhead showed that country stars are just like wine–better with age!
The multi-award winning McEntire came to the show as both performer and nominee. She stepped onto the red carpet with a nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year.
The CMA Awards showed that fashion isn’t just for Hollywood. In fact, Nashville just mic-dropped.
