“New Year’s Day”

Taylor Swift has been a lot of places since the release of her 1989 album; country music radio isn’t one of them. However, she may be returning. The “Shake It Off” has just released a country single from her latest project.

“New Year’s Day” is the last song from her new album, Reputation. Though it’s released as a country track, that title is debatable. It seems like it would be far more at home in a Seattle coffee shop than the Opry stage, but fans can decide! You can catch her performance of it on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Reba Makes the Call

The “Queen of Country” has put the kaibosh on criticizing Garth Brooks for lip-syncing at the recent CMA Awards.

Reba McEntire not only came out defending Brooks’ decision–she came out endorsing it! Speaking to Access Hollywood Live, she said, “He’s the hardest working man I’ve ever seen in my life,” she says. “He will not let his fans down. I kinda applaud him — he did need to lip-sync, he showed up!”

The Mullet Vow

Now crowned People Magazine‘s 2017 Sexiest Man Alive, Blake Shelton is vowing to bring back the original “business in the front, party in the back” haircut of the 80s: The Mullet. (In case you don’t have a reference, plug “Billy Ray Cyrus” into your search engine and you can find some textbook examples).

On a recent appearance on the Ellen Degeneres Show, he made the promise.

“I have been fat and ugly my whole life, and if only for one year I get to be sexy, I am going to milk this for everything that it’s worth,” he tells her. “The mullet’s coming back this year!”

A Date to Die For

One can only imagine how intimidating it would be to pick up Tim McGraw‘s daughter for a date. Now imagine her daddy greeting you at the door covered in blood.

It seems that McGraw seized the opportunity to send a rather macabre message to his daughter’s date when the young man came to the house. He shared with Jimmy Fallon the details of answering the door wearing his barbecue apron. It was bloody and covered with chunks of meat. And he just happened to still be holding the knife he was using.

“It worked out really well,” he said.

Stay tuned for next week’s round-up of all the latest country news!
