With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas looming in the near future, the year is flying. That also means that there’s much to cover in country music news. This week we take a look at a 2018 tour stop you won’t want to miss, a kickin’ NYE party, and fun Christmas reveal.
Stapleton Soars Like an Eagle
The Eagles have been on tour with various musicians in the band since the passing of Glenn Frey. Vince Gill has been one of the most notable additions to the tour and recently performed with the rocks gods at the Opry. But next summer, a new country music star will step on stage with the iconic group: Chris Stapleton.
Stapleton joins the Eagles at their Arlington, Texas date on June 23. The “Tennessee Whiskey” singer recently won the CMA Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year Awards. Tickets for shows in Arlington, Denver, and Washington, D.C. go on sale December 1 at 10 am.
Nashville for New Year’s
Looking for an awesome country part to ring in 2018? Why not try Music City? The Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight will feature Keith Urban as the headliner for the second year in a row.
Held at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, the event will also feature Maren Morris, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Cheap Trick, “Every Little Thing” singer Carly Pearce, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Gates open at 4 pm on December 31, and the event is free and open to the public.
Stefani Spills the Beans on Christmas
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton definitely don’t shy away from the media when expressing their affection for each other.
Recently, Stefani admitted that she’s already decided what she’s getting Shelton for Christmas– and that he knows, too. Warning: the gift isn’t all that exciting.
On The Tonight Show, Stefani explained to host Jimmy Fallon her reasoning for her rather practical gift.
I think that because he doesn’t fit in any of my furniture at my house—he’s too big—I’m like, ‘[I’m] going to get you a couch and, like, that’s going to be your Christmas present,'” Stefani shared, before continuing, “I try to make him feel comfortable in L.A.”
Here’s hoping everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving and an enjoyable start to the holiday season. Keep coming back for all your country music new and needs.
