Cole Swindell recently put out his “Down Home Sessions III” EP. One song — “Does It Hurt” — reviews pickup lines that may or may not work.

Swindell met up with Taste of Country to talk about some pickup lines he missed in his song. He says he’s not too smooth, so this song (which sings “Does it hurt looking that good?”) is perfect for him. The way he wrote it was by teaming up with Tom Douglas and Jaren Johnston and making a list of bad pickup lines.

In the video, Billy Dukes hands Swindell a list of these bad pickup lines and Swindell tries to deliver them with a straight face.

When Dukes asks Swindell if he’s ever used any of the pickup lines in Swindell’s song, the country star smiled.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had the guts to actually use a pickup line because anyone that can actually use one and it works — more power to you,” he says.

The release date for “Down Home Sessions III” is October 28. The EP is a foreshadowing of his tour, the Down Home Tour, which starts October 26.

“I can’t wait for my Down Home Tour this year, and am really excited to partner with CMT this time,” he said. “The fans in these cities and towns have been behind me since I first played in these clubs — supporting me in every way. Sending me Facebook messages and tweets. They have called radio stations to request my songs and spent their hard-earned money to buy my CDs and concert tickets. I have always looked at this tour as a way to get back ‘Down Home’ where they gave me my start and just to say thank you.”

Unfortunately, you probably won’t hear a single from the EP because it is mainly meant to be a gift to his fans. But you can listen to other songs from the album, like this one, “You’ve Got My Number.”

“I just really had to say, ‘This has nothing to do with the studio album. This is all for the fans and this tour,’” he said. “It makes a unique experience for these shows knowing you won’t hear it anywhere else other than really this tour and we get to play them live. It’s for me and the fans.”
