Carrie Underwood‘s beauty has only increased over the years. She was cute in her American Idol audition, but now she’s gorgeous. Nature has certainly been kind to her, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have to work at it. In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Carrie shared her beauty tips. Lucky for us, they are simple and don’t require anything too expensive.
Keep It Basic
The thing that’s great about Carrie‘s beauty tips is how easy they are. Underwood’s first rule is that she drinks 64 ounces of water a day. She’s been consistent in her advocacy of hydration and that nothing supplants what water can do.
Secondly, she uses few products that pack a punch, rather messes with a bunch of bottles. One crucial daytime ingredient is SPF. And for night, she uses a good moisturizer–if she has it on hand. If she doesn’t, then it’s no big deal. She simply substitutes with coconut oil.
“I can’t have too many things with all the travel that we do, so I have a decent cleanser and some sort of moisturizer with SPF, or I’ll wash my face, then use coconut oil to moisturize if I’ve forgotten my lotion,” she said. “It’s good right out of the shower and if you’re just feeling dry.”
Because she also frequently cooks with coconut oil, she said she usually has it on hand in her kitchen and her bathroom. Having products within easy reach is important when you’re busy and maintaining a routine.
Besides that, Underwood claims that it’s just the basic stuff. Exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet (she’s such a big fan of exercise that she even developed her own fitness apparel, CALIA). Of course, she still has to have her glam, so she also shared some quick and easy makeup tips to enhance that natural glow.
Keep It Simple
Carrie Underwood has learned quite a bit from her years of touring and all the makeup sitings she’s had.
For one, use a cheap and handy household ingredient to add some drama to your eye makeup: Vaseline. “To make an eyeshadow look more dramatic and dewy, put a little Vaseline on a Q-tip and apply it to your lids,” she explained, though remember that a little goes a long way. Too much and you just end up with a goopy mess.
