Injured

According to The Tennessean, Carrie Underwood was injured after she fell on the steps outside her Nashville-area home on Friday night (Nov. 10), suffering “a broken wrist and cuts and abrasions.” She was treated at a Nashville-area hospital and then released.

Though the singer is okay, recovery will “take some time.” Underwood’s representative said that the “Jesus Take The Wheel” singer “appreciates all prayers and well wishes.” She took to Twitter to express her thanks to fans.

“Thanks so much for all the well wishes everybody,” the “Before He Cheats, ” singer wrote. “I’ll be alright…might just take some time…glad I’ve got the best hubby in the world…”

Underwood’s husband, Mike Fisher, was out of to but took an overnight flight home. He was able to return to Nashville soon after to be with her. The incident occurred just two nights after she co-hosted the CMA Awards show with Brad Paisley for the 10th consecutive time.

Show cancellations

Despite her hospital release, Underwood canceled some upcoming tour dates so that she can recover. One of the most notable is the Country Rising benefit show, scheduled for Sunday night (Nov. 12) in Nashville.

Initially, Country Rising was to support those impacted by hurricanes in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and other Caribbean islands. However, in the wake of the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival shooting, the Las Vegas victims are also recipients.

Underwood was one of a long list of headliners for the benefit. Others include Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Sam Hunt, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, and George Strait. Garth Brooks was another artist who canceled, though he was due to tour scheduling conflicts. As a remedy for his absence, he said he would donate proceeds from his November 12 show.

Hopefully, Underwood will make a speedy recovery and will be able to attend the rest of her scheduled dates. Her fans certainly hope so!
