Blake Shelton just had a Twitter meltdown. Some recent gossip about the star sent the social website into a feeding frenzy. And the normally cool Shelton did anything but ignore it. Not only did he call out his trolls, but he was so angry that you couldn’t tell if he was yelling at his fans or his foes!
It started with Paul Ryan. Ryan is the Speaker of the House, and one of the most prominent Republicans in Congress. Given all that’s happening in Washington right now, Ryan is definitely under the spotlight. Shelton, of course, is the current Sexiest Man Alive, and country megastar. Thus, both men receive considerable media attention wherever they go.
And as it happened, they ended up going to the same place.
According to Shelton’s Twitter rant, he was taking his girlfriend Gwen Stefani to his restaurant, Ole Red in Tishomingo. Paul Ryan happened to be there and the two bumped into each other. Shelton posed for a photo with Ryan.
Keep in mind that Shelton’s restaurant is in Oklahoma. It was a weird place for them to run into each other.
The interaction between the two was witnessed by several people there. And it went viral. Twitter lit up like the Fourth of July, with people calling it a “secret meeting” and claiming that Shelton was working with the GOP.
And that’s when the Twitter meltdown occurred.
Shelton immediately responded to the allegations. It took four Tweets for him to get enough characters to finish his rant.
“I can’t even fathom the gossip I read about myself anymore. Seriously.. Literally walked into a restaurant WITH MY FAMILY (including children, LOTS of children), bumped to a politician that I’ve never even met before, said hello and took pictures” he posted.
“(like I would try to do with anyone I meet who asks). Then we immediately left because it was too cold for the outdoor area we had reserved. And now according to the internet we were hanging out or having some big secret meeting in a PUBLIC restaurant!!!!!! WTF?!!!” he finished.
But he wasn’t done. “Are you kidding me? I don’t do politics no matter WHAT you’ve read about me and how it’s been spun. And THATS the TRUTH from ME. And if you can find it in your heart to hate me for that then so be it. This is out of control…”
Then, in what seemed like the afterthought in an argument when you just have to get in one last dig, he posted again. This is when it really began looking like a Twitter meltdown, and not just a Twitter rant. He basically called out his fans, not just his trolls.
“Oh! And one more thing… There is a SHITLOAD of fake accounts out there claiming to be me. Be careful… Actually why the hell are we even on here anymore? Let’s go live our lives!!!”
Was his rant justified? And should we all just go live our lives? It’s an interesting question from a guy who is a regular Tweeter. His fans will have to decide.
