With his recent coronation as People Magazine’s 2017 Sexiest Man Alive, Blake Shelton has received a lot of press. Most of it is lighthearted and positive. However, some recent mean tweets reveal that not everyone is giving their stamp of approval.

Mean tweets

The “I’ll Name the Dogs” singer recently appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show. Of course, his recent title of Sexiest Man Alive was a topic on the show.

Backstage, Shelton recorded a video that he posted on Twitter. In it, he reads some of the mean tweets about his new status.

Shelton smiles at the camera in response to the one that read, ““Woke up this morning to the news that Blake Shelton is the Sexiest Man Alive. RIP every sexy man in the world who died in the ‘Great Sexy Plague of 2017’ overnight. You will be missed.”

Another tweeter posted, “Blake Shelton is sexy if you like a guy who’s always about to lean in and tell you about a hearty, healthy American dog food.”

“Blake Shelton looks like the dad in a drug commercial where they list off the side effects at the end while you watch him build a birdhouse,” got a chuckle from the star.

Despite the negativity, he took all in stride. (See video below).

Enjoying the year

Shelton’s new album, Texoma Shore, recently went to the top of the country charts. Plus he says he’s going to enjoy having a year to enjoy his status! “I’m owning this moment. I’ve been ugly my whole life. If I can be sexy for a year, I’m taking it.”

Besides that, he can also now gloat to fellow Voice coach, Adam Levine. Levine won the title in 2013. Shelton was quick to point out that rubbing it in Levine’s face was one of the best things about the new win.

Whether the title is deserved is a matter of individual opinion. But even if you don’t find him handsome, it’s pretty universally sexy to be so grounded with such a good sense of humor.
