Megastar Garth Brooks has done it again. The singer just went to the No. 1 position with his new hit single, “Ask Me How I Know.” And with the upcoming release of the first volume of his autobiographical anthology, the timing couldn’t be better. Here are all the details.

“Ask Me How I Know”

Brooks‘ latest single took the No. 1 spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Country Aircheck/Mediabase Country Airplay charts. Thanks to those top rankings, the single becomes his 20th No. 1 hit.

It’s been a decade since he had a song at the top. That was the 2007 single “More Than a Memory.”

“Ask Me How I Know” is from Garth’s 2016 Gunslinger album. The album itself did well, reaching the Top 5 on the Top Country Albums Chart. An interesting note about “Ask Me How I Know” is that it was the first cut of its author, Mitch Rossell. And Brooks didn’t overlook that fact.

“I’m so proud of the Pearl Records team for working so hard for this No. 1,” Brooks said. “Congrats to Mitch Rossell on his first cut…so happy for you, pal!  And to country radio…four decades later, thanks for still believing. I’m humbled and very grateful.”

Another interesting fact is that this 20th No. 1 comes just one week before the 28th anniversary of his first No. 1 single, “If Tomorrow Never Comes.” That was released in 1989.

“the greatest way to spend your days”

This month, Garth Brooks will end his 3-year long North American tour. His wife, Trisha Yearwood, has been with him for most of it. The last six shows will take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. One of the most successful tours in country music history, it sold more than 5 million tickets. There’s talk of him taking the show overseas in the future.

In reflecting on the tour’s end, Brooks was candid that he would miss it.

“So when it’s all said and done and it’s January, it’s funny, what am I gonna miss? I’m gonna miss this. It’s the greatest way to spend your days,” Brooks told NewsOK

But he likely won’t be too bored. He is releasing the first volume of his mega-anthology about his life and career and will be promoting that. In the meantime, his fans now have 20 No. 1 songs to listen to.
