Anyone else feeling the post-Thanksgiving bloat? If you’re hoping to get your body back, give these yoga poses a try. You’ll be able to lose weight and tone those muscles. Easy as pumpkin pie!
Boat Pose (Paripurna Navasana)
This balancing act strengthens the hip flexors and tones the abs for fast results. Beginners, keep your knees bent and your hands either resting on the mat behind you with fingertips pointing forward, placed on the outside of the thighs, or extended parallel to the knees.
For full exertion, stretch the legs ahead to create a V shape. Want to kick it up a notch? Lace the hands behind your head and on an exhale, lower the back and legs a few inches closer to the ground. Inhale and use your core strength to pull you back up to the original pose. Repeat.
Big Toe Pose (Padangusthasana)
This one achieves a deep stretch from head to toe. Hold for five to seven minutes to strengthen the legs and back as you stimulate healthy functioning of the kidneys and liver as well. More experienced yogis can try an advanced variation, Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana. Standing upright, lengthen one leg to the side and clasp your fingers around your big toe to stabilize. Repeat with the other leg and enjoy a deep stretch and toning of the thighs.
Crescent Pose (Anjaneyasana)
Lunge it out to tone the quads, glutes, and thighs and relieve tension through deep stretching. This is the perfect pose for the holiday season, helping us to open our heart and reduce fatigue during this hectic time.
