Develop Healthy Sleep Patterns

If you feel exhausted through irregular sleep patterns or a bad case of insomnia, it’s important to address this. Insomnia spills over into your life. You will feel irritable and concentration levels will wane. It can be caused by a multiple of reasons – medical conditions, sleep apnea, problems or unhealthy sleep patterns and it’s important to understand the cause and then you can do something about it. When you feel exhausted, life seems like an uphill battle and even the little problems can seem mountainous.

Endocrine problems, sinus issues, arthritis, asthma, or chronic pain, these are just some of the reasons as to why you may not be able to sleep. There may also be underlying problems which need to be addressed.

Sleep problems are not uncommon but they can affect health and productivity on a daily basis. If you have lots of anxieties, these can certainly prevent you from sleeping easily or, sleeping right through the whole night. This is where meditation can be useful or deep, relaxation techniques as they will soothe both mind and body. Also, focusing on breathing techniques can reduce any inner angst and enable a more satisfying sleep pattern.

Tips to Improve Sleep

  • Try to go to bed at the same time each night
  • Do not eat before going to bed
  • Try to make the bedroom a welcoming area, one of peace and rest
  • Do not have a television in the bedroom
  • Do not have your mobile phone by the bed
  • Practice yoga an hour before you go to bed
  • Meditate
