There have been 683 arrests of illegal immigrants in the month of February. But this only accounts for a tiny 0.07% of those immigrants who have court-ordered deportation orders, according to Western Journalism.

DHS Secretary, John Kelly, recently announced the adding of 10,000 additional ICE agents in an effort to track down the fugitives. ICE Director, Thomas Homan, touted the backlog as being a result of internal struggles and a lack of cooperation from outside agencies.

In a 2016 Senate Judiciary Hearing, it was revealed that many cities have refused to cooperate with the “Primary Enforcement Program” (PEP). The PEP system allows for local jurisdictions to communicate with ICE whenever an illegal immigrant is detained-or released.

According to the report from the hearing, Cook County, IL received $8.9 million in federal aid to fight illegal immigration, yet “they refused to follow federal immigration laws.” Immigration law requires that illegals be deported within 90 days after a judge issues a final deportation order.

In addition to adding additional ICE agents, Kelly is also proposing to add 5,000 border patrol agents. The proposal, which will be sent for President Trump’s approval, will also accelerate deportation hearings and…
