April is not only all about April Fool’s Day, Good Friday, or even Easter. There’s more to celebrate with your grandkids, even if just for the joy of being together.

wacky april holidays to share with grandkidsWhat’s happening in April? How about National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, Children’s Book Day, or Name Yourself Day? Take a look at some of the other wacky observances in April:

  • Children’s Book Day
  • National Dandelion Day
  • Caramel Popcorn Day
  • Zoo Lover’s Day
  • National Sibling’s Day
  • Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day
  • Look Up at the Sky Day
  • Pet Owner’s Independence Day
  • Look-Alike Day
  • National Jelly Bean Day
  • National Pretzel Day
  • Babe Ruth Day
  • National Honesty Day
  • Lawn and Garden Month
  • National Kite Month

Which of these strikes your fancy? Those that are food oriented are the most immediately appetizing. Do some simple research on caramel corn, grilled cheese, pretzels, or jellybeans. Tell your grands where these foods came from and let them help serve them for lunch.

National Sibling’s Day is the perfect time to talk about kindness and caring in the house and National Honesty Day figures in as well.

I enjoy telling my grandkids about famous people of the past. Thus, I share a bit about Babe Ruth and show them photos found on the internet. Then we go out in the backyard to see if we can break his record for home runs.
