According to the the Bhagavad Gita, “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” As you step away from your yoga mat, I encourage you to continue along this journey of self-discovery and self-love. Here are four steps to commit to yourself and the yoga journey in 2018.
Use Positive Affirmations
Positive affirmations are personal statements that reprogram the mind so we may overcome negative patterns of thinking. Affirmations are personal and can address an area of your life that is particularly challenging. Stating an affirmation everyday such as “I am worthy” will give you power over your insecurities so you may truly succeed.
Follow the Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction states that what we focus on in the mind will manifest in the material world. Keep your thoughts positive, and manifest your desires by believing that you will attain them.
Completing a mindful meditation practice will have a powerful impact on your daily routine. This can be as simple as focusing attention on your breath and centering the mind as you sip your coffee, drive in traffic, or cook your favorite meals.
Reflect on the times in which you felt the best in your everyday life. What were you doing, eating or even wearing? Where were you? Who were you with? Now that you know what external sources contribute to your happiness, set aside some time to bring these things into your life and care for your well-being.
