Twitter has been one of President-elect Donald Trump’s strengths during the election. This Monday, another tweet of his turned heads as he mentioned the rising crime rate in Chicago. Also suggesting Mayor Rahm Emanuel should seek federal help.

The Twitter post stated, “Chicago murder rate is record setting — 4,331 shooting victims with 762 murders in 2016 if Mayor can’t do it he must ask for Federal help!”

The post appeared on a morning show along with an interview with Emanuel’s former police superintendent saying the city’s Police Department is indeed in a crisis.

The homicide rate has risen to nearly 60 percent making it the highest level in 20 years.

In a statement by the mayor’s spokesman Adam Collins, the mayor is delighted that the president-elect Trump has turned his attention to the crime issue.

However, he did not respond to the concern that they need to ask for Federal Help.

The uproar may have started after the release of the video of Laquan McDonald being shot 16 times by a white police officer. The U.S. Justice Department has also been investigating on the Police Department specifically when the use of force is implemented.
