Like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead is known for epic deaths. For those who haven’t been keeping up with the comics, there may be some pretty epic spoilers in this article. Consider this a warning…

The last huge spoiler to be revealed on television was Glenn Rhee’s death by Negan, which happened first in the comic. The alteration to this death, of course, was the death of Abraham.

There are alterations on the show as well, such as Andrea and Sophia’s deaths, which happened much sooner on television.

There is one character death that creator Robert Kirkman actually felt the need to apologize for, which happened in the most recent issue of the comic. In issue 167, Andrea dies when she is bitten is Rick is forced to kill her.

The comic is different than the series about Rick’s love interest. On AMC, he is in love with Michonne but he’s with Andrea, who doesn’t die so early, in the comic. Andrea’s death was very dramatic for Rick Grimes.

Robert Kirkman also took this death very personally.

An Apology To Walking Dead Fans

Kirkman told fans:

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry to my fans and to myself and to Andrea. I feel like I killed a close friend. The deaths in this series are never taken lightly, they’re never done with a sense of glee. They weigh on me the same way they weigh on you. These characters are very real to me, and their deaths are upsetting even to me. “I plotted this issue out during a plane ride a few months ago.”

“I plot my stories down with a pencil and paper, and there I was in my seat, blocking out scenes and writing dialogue surrounded by strangers who probably thought I jotting down a shopping list. As I was writing some of the moments from this issue, I started crying. I found myself glancing around, wiping my eyes, hoping no one would notice. I’ve been living with this death for months now…and I don’t like it.”

“I loved Andrea and I will truly miss her,” he said.
