According to various sources online, star of The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln, plans to exit the series after the Season 9 run. In addition, AMC has offered Norman Reedus a substantial pay raise to stay on the show and take over as the lead. This means major changes for the zombie series.

Ratings have drastically dropped in Season 7 and Season 8, which may or may not have led to Lincoln’s decision. In addition, Scott Gimple has been moved to oversee Fear and TWD, which means a new showrunner for the flagstaff series. This is another major shake-up after the death of Chandler Riggs’ character, Carl Grimes.

The past two seasons have evolved around Negan and the all-out war. But it’s unclear just how drastically this change will alter the show. After all, it’s hard to imagine the show moving forward without either Grimes leading men, based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book.

Can the show go on with the star of the zombie drama?
